A Glorious Year: Mobile, Mission, Maintenence

December hit and with it the reality that our we were in the month of 'lasts'-our last month full-time with MMM, our last project, our last days of homeschooling among many others. Mobile McLeans family photo Our last two weeks at the Gloriavale Leavers Trust project were full on. There were a lot of volunteers who came from Christchurch, Timaru and surrounds, Waimate and even some family and friends from Dunedin. With lots of volunteers came the need for Chris to stay ahead, planning who could do what job and keeping all the hands busy. There were lots of mouths to feed which keep me busy in the kitchen with some help from another volunteer’s wife. I was glad to see the end of the school year, meaning the kids could have more free time and less pressure to be doing school work. It was great to have my dad back at a project again, this time with two of my teenage nephews. The kids loved having their big cousins around and it made pool time even more fun! A November to Remember

It’s hard to believe that here we are on our final project of the year. As often happens at this time of the year there is more events and things to be done and it seems that each day starts to move faster. A West Coast Sunset The first half of November was spent continuing the project on Greymouth Baptist Church. The builders on the site had no lack of work and other volunteers spent coun...

Back to the Mainland

After 4 months in Taranaki it was finally time to hit the road again. We were excited to be heading back towards the South Island again and broke up the drive between Inglewood and Nelson over 4 days starting with travelling to Whanganui. We enjoyed stopping in to Tawhiti Museum again to see the Traders and Whalers exhibition that we didn’t have time to see last time, had a morning to explore some parks in Whanganui and then had some very wild weather on our travels to Wellington. It was a relief to arrive in Wellington where we were hosted by a church with MMM connections, kindly organised last minute by my brother-in-laws parents who attended there.   Some of the displays after the boat ride at the trader's and whaler exhibition The long journey south The pirate ship at Kowhai park was a highlight even in the rain! Figuring out where we have been so far this year and where we are headed We got to enjoy one day exploring Wellington and catching up with some family. We loved...
